Director Q&A

What conversation do you hope this film starts between strangers?

I hope people talk to each other about what they find important in life. What they value and how they wish to spend the time that they are given.

What’s one thing you learned while making this film?

2 minutes is too short for me, Im not a filmmaker who can do fast things hahahha

Has an audience reaction ever changed how you interpret your own films?

With my short film Funkele (about female sexuality) I heard someone interpreting certain things in the film that I didn't intend in that way. But with fiction I love to leave it a bit open to interpretation, so it was nice to hear someone doing that.

Was there a moment when you thought the film might fall apart — and how did you pull through?

I didn't have it with this film, it was part of a kind of competition and everything went fast, not leaving much time to think. Yet with every other film I do usually get to that stage in some way. It helps to take a step back, let whatever happened sink in, also accept that things can fail and then usually there comes a moment to see a way out of it or to fix it.

If you could spotlight one unsung hero from your team, who would it be and why?

For this film I would say the people on camera. A film is nothing without a crew, but also not without a "cast", and for this documentary I think the people who were willing to take part of it really "make" the film. Even though it's so short and they can only say a few things, I think with all of them you feel how much is behind their words.
